WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE?
Brows take approximately 7-10 days to heal. Like with any tattoo is isn't uncommon to experience scabbing, some itching, and some redness and tenderness.
Scabbing, if this happens do not pick the scab! It will naturally fall of on its own
Itchiness. This indicates the healing process is well on its way! Try not to touch your brows when you feel this sensation
Redness, this will subside within the first few days
CAN I GET MUSCLE RELAXANTS DONE BEFORE OR AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
It is recommended that you get muscle relaxants no less than 2 weeks BEFORE Tattooing your brows.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY BROWS TO HEAL?
Brows will appear healed after 7-14 days, but the skin takes 4 weeks to be completely healed.
CAN I EXERCISE OR SWIM AFTER I GET MY BROWS DONE?
I recommend no exercise for a minimus of 2 days after your appointment and no vigorous exercise or swimming for 7 days.
CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER I GET MY EYEBROWS TATTOOED?
Yes of course, you can wear face makeup straight away as long as you’re avoiding the brow area.
CAN I GET MY EYEBROWS TATTOOED IF I’M ON MEDICATION?
Certain medications may be a contraindication. If you are on medication, we recommend getting in contact with us to ensure that this will not affect your results.
CAN MY BADLY TATTOOED EYEBROWS BE FIXED?
Yes, we can either remove your old tattoo with saline removal or go over them if they are light enough.
HOW LONG DOES EYEBROW TATTOOING LAST?
This differs for everyone, but typically clients come back for a colour refresher every 1-2 years.
TREATMENT CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Planning/trying to conceive
- Hepatitis (A,B or C)
- Sunburn within 2 weeks or still visible
PRE APPOINTMENT INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.
- No alcohol or caffeine 24-48 hours before procedure.
- Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure.
- Do not take aspirin, niacin, vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.
- Avoid fish oil, prenatal vitamins, nutritional shakes, “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements 48 hours prior to procedure.
- Discontinue Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure).
- Refrain from use of any alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure).
- Botox and filler on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 3 weeksprior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables.
- No brow waxing, tinting, or threading one week prior (the more natural hair growth you have, the better!)
- Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion or facials for 4-weeks prior to procedure.
AFTERCARE
Day 1-7 Use one pump of soap free cleanser such as QV. Do this morning and night. After cleaning, apply a "rice grain" amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton bud to the treated area. NEVER put ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
- Use a fresh pillow case while you sleep
- Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour.
- No facials, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 3-4 weeks. If you do have a facial booked in ensure they DO NOT touch the brow area and be sure to tell your beauty therapist you have just had your brows done.
- Avoid vigorous exercise for 2-3 days, 1 week if possible
- Avoid direct sun or tanning for 4 weeks. Wear a hat if you do go in the sun
- Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area for 2 weeks
- Do not pick or scratch the treated area
- Do not swim or use saunas for 7-10 days
